Eduardo Acevedo, 18, of Vista is lucky to be alive after a dramatic crash on eastbound Highway 79 just west of Sycamore. CHP officer Jim Bettencourt said the teen is "lucky to be alive". Bettencourt credited the mans survival to the use of a seatbelt. Bettencourt described the crash as "not common, not common at all"Not only did the man Survive but he was able to speak to me and afterwards. He escaped with barely a scratch on his face. Bettencourt said that he was going at a high rate of speed when he thought he had missed his exit and had over-corrected to make the turn.
